TAHNEES DOLL RUTH GERTRUDE

RUTH GERTRUDE

This is my daughter Tahnee's doll, her name is Ruth Gertrude......(Dad and Mum will appreciate this name....lol)

This little girl wasn't going to be a OOAK however when I undid her hair to wash her I found out she had a haircut at some stage and had a large chunk missing right from the front. Above is her full body shot not long after she arrived, she was a curly piggies girl, bad haircut, fairly clean soft skin, bluey-hazel eyes one has a slight crack in it, whites are nice and scratch free, they are very similar color to Tahnee's. She however un-made up looks so plain, for a while I was calling her plain Jane, she looks like she needs some sun. Very boring, I had no idea she would turn out like she did when finished.

I told Tahnee not long after discovering the haircut that she could have the doll, she had been nagging me for quite sometime for one of her own, and this one had a couple of other faults so I decided she really was only worthy of being a childs toy again.....its sad, she is a reject, yes i give my children reject toys, lol. Tahnee was carefully studing me at work, and After Ruth had a bath and was dry I set about working on her make-up, Tahnee asked if she could help so I let her, I gave her the blue water soluable pencil and she gave Ruth some eyelashes, "cause she doesn't have any mummy" (pictured below, and since washed off...lol)

Below is the finshed doll, unfortunately her hair had to go, even styled the chopped chunk stood out to much, so I made her a wig from a lovely pinky red mohair mix, it is very soft and looks stunning, so much better than in the picture, i even made her lps a bit darker to suit her hair. Tahnee loves her, she worked out really well, I love her.....I wonder if i can change my mind and keep her now......

Given to Tahnee Ella Rawson 30/5/2007, a my child all of her own, now she can stop nagging me for one.....no doubt Hollie will start soon....lol.

OOAK Pink Fairy

OOAK PINK FAIRY

This dirty little girl was brought for me buy my Mum & Dad, they just traveled from Bairnsdale to Darwin & back again and stop at every op shop along the way to no avail, they found this little lady in Queensland, dirt and all I am very happy. She is in good condition apart from the dirt and a small hole in her lip, eyes are bright and crack free, make-up is faded but will come up well when I do it.

She was originally a long piggie tails girl, American, made in china, she has however had a very bad haircut, but I think was very well loved, due to the pilling & dirt build up. I started with the normal scrub & soak, however this didn't work, dirt was too built up, so I popped her in a pillow case, tied it in a knot and she went in the wash with the rest of my laundry. She came out cleaner but still not like she once was, so I decided to make her into a OOAK (one of a kind) doll.

I thought she should be a pink fairy, so I dyed her, I didn't think it would take to her hair, but it took better to her hair than her body, she has come out the softest shade of pink, with brighter pink hair. It covers up her dirt nicely.

I am going to tightly curl her hair, to cover up the bad haircut, I don't really want to cut it all off, if it doesn't work out then I may have to give it the snip, It would be ok as spotlight has some stunning pink wool with a glittery thread running through it at the moment, I may even get a ball to knit her a scarf and socks as it is so pretty.

Above and below shows her hair during the curling process, this envolves you taking small sections of the hair and fastening it to a drinking stra with a bobby pin, you then carefully wrap the hair around the straw and fasten it again with another pin. When all the hair has been fixed this way you boil water and then let it cool for a minute then carefully pour it over all the rolled curls, carefull not to miss any, you then let it dry for 24 hours, then repeat the boiled water process again, then leave to dry for 48 hours, then straws and pins can be removed.Below you can see the curls after the straws have been romoved, it worked so well, I am very happy i wanted nice tight curls allover, you can't even tell she has had a bad haircut now.
Still not finshed keep an eye out for more updates.

Amelias Bianca

AMELIA'S SAD NEW BABY.....BIANCA

This photo shows the front of her face, note yellow forehead and red splotch on cheek.

All I can say about when I first this little girl pop out of the box was, "oh my Gosh", She had paint from head to toe, the most matted dreadlocked hair ever, she was going to be hard work, I kept
hearing a little voice in my head saying..."haha you've bitten of more than you can chew"

Upon insepection of her I noted she is an Aussie/Euro doll with peachy skin, green eyes, her part line indicates she has pigtails, due to the matted hair this indicated she had ringlets as well as ringlet dolls when treated badly tend to get matted hair quickly.

This photo clearly shows the rats nest that was her hair, and the popped seam on her arm.

I got started straight away...... I started with the usual bath and scrub, extra elbow grease required here, She had the following things wrong with her skin, all over pilling, large yellow and blue paint marks all over, very dirty fingers on both hands, and both feet had dirty toes, eyes were ok, right eye was scratched, nose was very dirty, red paint mark on left cheek, yellow paint across forehead, large green blob of paint over left eye, neck is a little loose, right arm is un-
stiched on back seam, one ankle stitch is loose and need replacing, hair looked like rats had lived in it for a very long time...lol, all sorts of treasures buried in it.

After the first intital soak and scrub I started on her hair, I combed and pulled and conditioned for an hour and 15 mins, but I managed to pull all the matts out, as well has a heap of synthetic grass, fluff, string and some unknown bits of stuff. This photo shows what her hair looks like combed out and brushed down, prior to treatment.

After combing her hair out I treated the ends of the hair to help with the frizziness, I pour boiling water over the hair to help remove it, not sure how it works, but it works.

I found the centre of her part and opened it out, ready for re-weaving, I then plated her hair to stop it tangling whilst she was back in the bath.

Photo shows her hair after treatment, and ready to plat.

I then popped her back in the bath for more scrubbing and an overnite soaking in oxi action nappisan. In the morning I scrubbed her a bit longer with sard and found that all but a few of the paint marks had come out, especially her face paint, it was gone, only a few remain on her body and legs, but no biggy as she will be dressed and you won't notice it at all.

This picture shows her washed and drying, note the hair, I still can't beleive I got through the mess and I am now able to plat it, can't wait to do the part and then put the ringlets in. I also noticed after she had a brush over on her skin with the toothbrush that she had a small hole in her left thumb, I think the dirt and paint was holding it together lol, I will fix it with invisible thread.

Hair has been parted and put into pony tails, soon to be curled into ringlets, fringe will also need to be put in curlers to round it and even it out, at the moment some bits poke up, oh well better than it looked when I first started hey? Who new under that mess would be such beautiful shiney blonde hair.

Oh it only took another hour to part her hair & fringe and put it into pigtails! But her part is just lovely, its so nice when they have lovely thick hair, the part combs out well and you don't have to go back and pull more plugs across to cover holes, as sometimes happens with doll that have thinner hair.

This picture below shows her hair in the straw rollers, I use drinking straws and bobby pins to create ringlets, this creat a nice even size and when you treat them the pins & straws stand up to the heat of the boiling water. I use velcro rollers for the fringe it makes it nice and fat and rounded.

Below is the back of her head, showing the pigtails & rollers.
Below is the back of the head after the rollers have been taken out, these are true ringlets, if you prefer you can finger comb them out and then you get nice curls.

Below this is the side veiw of one of the pigtails after the rollers were removed, I have also touched up her make-up, (not pictured) I will stitch up her damaged arm seam & ankle stich tomorrow and make her an outfit.

Below is Bianca's posed shot after having her make-up done and her barrettes in. She is stunning now.
The photo below shows her Barrettes in a little more detail, they are wider lace that matches the lace on her romper, with pink ribbons & white ribbon rosettes, with green ribbon leaves, they have nice long pale pink ribbon trails.
Below is a bit more posing, relaxed though this time, I decided this little girl should have a Pinny Romper outfit to wear, it suits her so well. Pale colors seam to go well with the peach skin tones.

Below shows of her pinny romper really well, This outfit consits of a pale pink romper (all in one suit, pants attached to the top) it has soft lace trim in white. Over the top is her lovely little apron made from soft cotten voille it is sort of sheer, I have hand embroidred on the bodice and also the pocket some pale pink flowers with green leaves and yellow centres. (her original shoes belong to my Hollie doll and are used for display only)

Well another little girl refreshed and ready for a new lease on life for you Ameilia, I cannot beleive how well she has turned out, she is stunning, from what I started with to what she has become is almost a miricle. Enjoy your sweet little Bianca.

Amelias blonde baby "Ruby"

RUBY

Full body shot above, front & back.

This little girl belongs to Amelia, I am working on her to bring out her former glory, unfortunately for Amelia that glory was covered in dirt and had a terrible smell, but I have a good feeling this little girl is going to be beautiful again. The above photo doesn't really show how dirty her face is, but it is bad. Amelia paid good money for this doll and was told it was in excellent condition, she was so upset when Ruby arrived, dirty, smelly, scratched, just heartbreaking, I would have cried too, even knowing I could repair her. So Amelia posted her to me for a little spa trip & some minor surgery.

Little Ruby was the worst doll I had ever seen, she had so much dirt on her face I thought it may have been mould, she had a large dark mark on one arm, all her fingers & toes were dirty, her eyes are both badly scratched, she has some scratchs into the pile of her felt on her face, one large v shaped one above her left eye and also below it, her hair isn't too bad, just dirty and tangled in places, her original part was long gone, oh and she smells.

Soaking in the tub, her face is all white from soap suds (above)

I decided the best thing to do was to give her a bath straight away in oxy action nappy san. Two buckets of this and 24 hours later, and she was starting to show some promising signs of being clean, I had to cscrub her face 4 times with sard and a toothbrush, I scrubbed her fingers, toes and the dark mark on her arm, lucky it came off.

After her bath she is starting to look nice, almost like a different doll (above)

After her soak & scrub I gave her a very long rinse, you need to rinse them well as any residual soap can attract dirt, whilst she relaxed wrapped in towels I took to her still damp hair with a comb, never brush as it can cause frizz. First I applied some conditioner, left it for a while, then i rinsed it out, I also used johnsons baby hair detangler on it to add ease of combing through, I found her part line and opened it out, ready to re-weave, turns out she is a long piggies girl, allthough she does have some curl to her hair and when pulled into to piggies its fairly uneven, I have decided she is actually a ringlet piggie girl. Her fringe weaving is still intact, saves me a job, lol, its nice and thick, she has a lovely head of hair.

Tempory piggies in her hair, before I re-weave her fringe, she will sit to dry for a couple of days now (above)

Still a long way to go, her hair part will be done in the next couple of days, as well as her outfit etc. 8/5/2007
Above is her hair all finished, her part went really well, I think because I have now done a few it is getting easier, I know what to do now without trying to hard. lol. Also in this shot you can see under her neck is a little indent, I had to open her back and add a little extra stuffing to pad her out, this is now gone. Also you can see that I have touched up the whites of her eyes, unfortunately they were scratched deep into the plastic of the eye and were hard to touch up, but they came up well despite it. Her make-up only neeeded a little touching up, just to freshen it up.

Above shows her hair part all done, it looks so good, so much better than the original mess...lol

Above all done, make-up, hair, skin, leg stiching, re-stuff, and an outfit, a cute little replica Aussie School Girl outfit, she looks so good. I left her hair in straight piggies as it is lovely and soft, I couldn't bring myself to curl it.

I will miss her!

She was boxed up today,

and has been posted back.

Enjoy her Amelia, she is a really cutie and I can not beleive how good she looks now.
