My OOAK Strawberry Shortcake Dolls

My One of a kind Strawberry Shortcake Dolls.
I have finally finshed my OOAK Strawberry Shortcake dolls, they are so cute and look great together, All were once poor little waif dolls (dolls that have had a very hard life) now they are all nice again and dressed like some of the charachters from Strawberry Shortcake.

Strawberry Shortcake

This little lady started life as a Aussie Ash Blonde Crimp that had a very hard life, she had been to the little trainee hairdresser (kid with sissors) and had been loved rather roughly, she has a scratch to one eye and some pilled skin on her nose. But I could see past all that and gave her a new look and a new life.

I firstly used what remained of her hair to re-root her sisters fringe, see my early blog on Molly. I then cut off the rest very short, down to stubble, then I gave her a bath. I then took red kitting wool and made her a wig, color really suits her skin tone, which I then glued to her head. I made her a red dress and a white apron with the handstiched crosses and the green diamond panels, I also made hr some cute little panties, I then made her green and white striped long socks, originally strawberry shortcake had stockings but I couldn't get any strechy material in lime green to make sockings. Then I made her a hat from pink spot fabric with a red band and a strawberry, it just completes the look. But her little feet were bare so I modified a babies bootie pattern to fit and made her some little boots.
She is just so sweet now.

Orange Blossom

My first little African American girl, boy was she in a bad way when I got her or should I say him, lol. Yes she was a sad little melted eyed boy when she arrived in the mail, but look at her now, new eyes and all dressed up very cute.

The above picture is how he looked when he arrived, eyes are melted and look terrible, also had a lousy haircut and a white paint spot on his nose, very dirty too. I took some brown eyes from the doll that was to become blueberry as she couldn't have brown eyes, and transplanted them into the head on the AA, my first eye transplant, worked out ok, the second one worked out better because I new what I was doing second time round and found a couple if neat removal and insertion techniques. I then trimmed all the hair off and then gave her a really good bath, scrubbed of the paint and she came up as good as new, I then replaced her hair with a looped knitting wool in black so it came out like afro hair, looks so good on her. I then set about making her an outfit, this was a challange as all the dress and hat had to be lined because of the scalloping and I couldn't yet yellow fabric with white flowers on it so I had to hand stitch on all the flowers, but everything worked out well in the end, she has a cute little dress, panties, long socks hat and will soon have shoes, they are nearly finished.

Blueberry Muffin

This little one was the hardest, she gave her original eyes to the AA and so I had to get some new ones from a vinyl headed doll I purchsed of ebay, worked out well she now has aqu eyes, perfect for a blueberry girl. The she had a wash, Again she was actually a he when she/it arrived on my door step, after a haircut and a new blue wool wig and some fresh make-up a little girl was born. I looked everywhere for diamond pattern fabric in blue tones, no luck so I had to make my own, this envoloved cuttting heaps of squares sewing them all together and then cutting them on an angle to create the diamonds, very time consuming but worked out well, she is now wearing the dress, with over pinny, and yellow button on the back, white panties, striped long socks, blue felt shoes and matching felt hat, a lot of work but worth it she is very nice now. Her skin is so smooth I don't think she was played with much.
